ŠKRIP, BRAČ OLDEST SETTLEMENT

Škrip is Brač oldest settlement where 1400bc lived first inhabitants of the island, that was tribe called Illyrians. They fled from Romans and settled down on the nearest islands in the region and settled there. That was Island Brač, Šolta, Hvar and Vis.

It was always lively history of Škrip, so with these trace of the past the look of the center is special. The predecessors of different cultures have left behind 2 castles (castle Cerinić, castle Radojković), mausoleum from the time of Romans, remains of Illyrian defense walls, church of st.Helen, one of the oldest chapels on the island – chapel of the Holy Spirit.  Today Škrip has two museums, Museum of Olive Oil and Museum of Island Brač.  If you are visiting Brač, definitely visit this place.
