We went on the 'On the Way to Zlatni Rat' tour recommended at our hotel - it was absolutely brilliant and we hugely recommend for those visiting Brac! Like other... read more reviews say, it feels very authentic and personal and not touristy at all. It was just 8 people hanging out with Tino, the guide, in a jeep and checking out Brac. Tino grew up in Brac and was so knowledgeable! He would stop and give us fascinating history lessons along the way. It was of course quite fun to ride around in an ex-military jeep and do some off-roading as well! As we were going off road, it definitely felt like we were getting to see parts of the island other visitors might not get to.
We loved the olive oil museum, which included a little meal at the end with wine, brandy, olive pate, and olive oils. We wanted to see Zlatni Rat, but it was absolutely heaving that day, so it was perfect to just get an hour there to see it and get out - we'd been thinking otherwise we'd take the bus down to see it, and we're so thankful we did it this way instead. It was very cool to go up Vidova Gora and check out the view. The lunch at the vineyard was a real highlight too - grilled fish caught by the farmer that morning, a schnapps tasting session. Also just driving around and seeing all the places like Škrip and Nerežišća was pretty special.

Tino was our guide, and he was a superstar. We had a 1/2 day 'taste of Brac' tour, 8 of us, starting at 1PM. ... read more Super interesting, and unusual. The Olive Oil tasting was very cool. One warning: This is sort of a 'jeep tour' (Tino is guide and driver), and many of these roads are unpaved and windy/hilly. We LOVED the adventure, but the faint-of-heart or those truly afraid of heights may have a few gasping moments on an occasionally bumpy ride. THE BEST PART - FOR SURE, you must book the optional private dinner, on the owner's family property in Smrka Bay. A traditional Croatian meal (and local organic wine), cooked by Martin and his friends, served on the water over a private bay. Truly priceless.

We then went back to the Tomas family house and were shown the vineyard and where they make the wine. We sampled a delicious cherry brandy and a walnut liqueur and then sat down to a wonderful tasting board of home grown grilled vegetables, cheeses and meats with a delicious glass of their home made wine. The tour was definitely the highlight of our holiday seeing how the family are so self sufficient and living off the land. We would have loved to have done another tour but had run out of time.

We visited local stone sculpturer, traditional olive oil press museum with lunch, beautiful quiet villages, the peak of Vidova gora, Golden Horn beach and his friend's house for dinner.

Tino was very friendly and knowledgeable about the island and was very passionate about making sure the tour was to give us a feel for how locals live on the island.
We were lucky to have the tour to ourselves.
The lunch was fabulous, with breads, tomatoes, tapenades, olive oils and fabulous wine.
Dinner was fresh fish caught by our host who went diving for it that morning, cooked on a BBQ with lovely grilled vegetables. What a treat!
Tino you made the trip very fun and engaging for us all and we would like to thank you for the amazing memories created!

We spent a wonderful day visiting several fascinating places, some of the more popular tourist places and some places you won't be able to experience in any other way. ... read more Visiting the olive mill with the cousin, driving amongst the sheep and goats, winding through the pine forests, overlooking the town of Bol from the highest place on the island, and seeing the impressive stones from the quarries were wonderful and well worth the price.
